Lolita Lipa Roberts is a 1991 graduate of CHS, a 1995 graduate of RIC, and received her Masters’ degree from URI in 2003. While at CHS, she was an All-American cheerleader, an All-State track and field athlete, a state champion club gymnast, Junior Class President, and Senior Class Vice President. In 1997, Lolita was hired in the Physical Education and Health Department, coaching cheerleading and bringing gymnastics back to CHS after decades of its absence. While she continued to teach, her experiences competing in college gymnastics along with cheering for the New England Patriots, led her to start a business in Coventry in 2002. KC Cats All Star Cheerleaders was one of the very first competitive All-Star cheerleading gyms in RI and the longest running for 17 years. In those years, KC Cats served over two thousand athletes and their families from two years old to adult. She also created RI’s first Special Needs Unified Cheer Team. Regional and National competitions led to six US Finals championships and the overall highest scores in the country twice. Each team and athlete found a place to call home at KC Cats – developing new skills, learning to compete, and finding a family where they could connect and make deep, lifelong friendships within our Coventry community. In 2018 she retired from KC Cats and continued to lead and shape young lives at CHS by coaching the football cheerleaders, creating the first CHS Unified Cheerleading squad, and leading both the Gymnastics team and the Competition Cheer squad to win state championships and qualify for New England championships. In 2022, she began serving in a leadership role as the Curriculum Coordinator of the CHS Physical Education and Health Department. As an exceptional leader, teacher and coach, Lolita has made an indelible mark on our community and High School. It has brought her so much joy to lead her students and athletes through their journey of growth, increased confidence, and success – in both winning and even losing. With a humble and grateful heart, Lolita continues to enjoy and appreciate the role she can play in impacting one life at a time for the better. She is known for her infectious attitude, constant smile, and cheerful and hope-filled disposition – one that is ready to believe in the next student, the next athlete, to give them an opportunity to discover, grow, and succeed.
