Daniel Hebert’s story is one of grit, gratitude, and giving back. Born and raised in Coventry, Rhode Island, Dan grew up with a strong sense of community and a passion for hands-on work. He attended Coventry High School, where he enrolled in the Vocational Technical Welding Program and quickly distinguished himself—earning first place in the statewide VICA competition for welding. But it wasn’t just sparks flying in the shop; it was at Europa Pizza, where Dan worked during high school, that he discovered his true calling: the art of pizza and the joy of serving others.
After graduating in 1990, Dan chose a path of honor and discipline by joining the United States Marine Corps. Between 1992 and 1996, he completed three tours of duty, serving with courage and commitment. His time in the military shaped his values—resilience, leadership, and loyalty, which would later become the foundation of his entrepreneurial journey.
Upon returning home, Dan wasted no time pursuing his dream. On November 6,1996, he opened West Greenwich Town Pizza in West Greenwich, RI. His dedication to quality, community, and customer service quickly earned the restaurant a loyal following. As demand grew so did Dan’s vision. On June 1, 2009, he opened a larger, more dynamic location just down the road: Dan’s Place.
Dan’s impact reaches far beyond the walls of his restaurant. He is a passionate supporter of youth sports in Coventry, Exeter-West Greenwich, and other surrounding communities. His generosity extends to veterans’ organizations, domestic violence shelters, suicide prevention efforts, and countless local charities. Every November, Dan also hosts the “Giving Thanks” event—a heartfelt tradition where he provides free Thanksgiving meals to individuals and families in need-a powerful reflection of his gratitude and compassion.
Daniel Hebert’s journey—from welding student to Marine, restaurateur, and community leader—is a shining example of what it means to live with purpose and give back with heart. Grateful for the success he’s earned, Dan remains deeply rooted in the values that shaped him: service, passion, and purpose. His life is a testament to what’s possible when you follow your heart, honor your roots, and never stop giving back.
