Myron Gadoury enrolled in and was a member of the first class at the Coventry
Vocational/Technical Carpentry Program at Coventry High School, graduating in 1971.
In his youth he was an active member of the 4-H Club, Future Farmers of
America, the Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts. Later he served as Scout Leader for
several years. Myron also studied Tae Kwon Do for many years and has taught
martial arts as well.
A life-long hunter, fisherman and member Emanuel Lutheran Church, Myron
has helped to run a food pantry at the church for many years, giving out food and
providing hot, nutritious meals for the homeless and other people in need. He
taught classes on cooking, making bread, jelly, and making sausage to name a
few. To support the food pantry, he applied for and received grants while also
organizing fundraisers to provide additional funds.
Myron also relied on his professional trades background to do free consulting
work for all churches relating to building issues. Many were out of compliance
with fire codes. He interpreted the codes for them and advised the best, cost-
effective way to comply. Meanwhile, he worked with fire marshals to resolve
issues, saving the churches hundreds of thousands of dollars in repairs. Myron has
also served a property chairman at two churches for many years, taking care of
the church property as the well as the not-for-profit Joyful Noise Day Care. He
has served on the board of directors for day care and received the Partner In Faith
Award from the RI State Council of Churches for his accomplishments. Myron
also serves on the church council and has taught Sunday school as well. He retired
from Stanley Bostitch after 42 years as a licensed electrician.
