During high school, Kevin Dolan was a member of the 1st class to start the
WCVY radio station in 1979; a member of the wrestling team; part of the
Spirit Club; and a student of the Graphic Communications program at the
Vocational Technical School.
After graduation in 1980, Kevin joined the RI Air National Guard and studied
as a Special Vehicle mechanic. He attended basic training at Lackland AFB,
Texas and studied Towing Vehicles and special Airport De-Icing equipment at
Chanute AFB in Illinois. He served 4 years at the 102nd Air Guard Station in
North Smithfield, RI.
Since 1992, the same year he married his wife Julie Ferri-Dolan (class of
1981), he has been employed by Lifetouch National School Studios. Kevin has
earned many sales awards with the company including Rookie of the Year
award for acquiring the most business in the NE region (school picture
accounts and yearbooks) in his first year. Shortly after that, he became a
National Yearbook Trainer, teaching other sales reps how to establish and
nurture relationships with school principals and yearbook advisers. To this
day, Kevin is responsible for over 130 yearbook accounts in RI. He credits his
strong relationships with customers from what he was taught in his early
school years. Most notably, his high school Principal Mr. James DiPrete. He
remembers “Mr. D” telling him to treat others how you’d like to be treated
yourself.
He has been a Pop Warner football coach, a soccer and softball coach for his
daughter’s youth teams, and has been a member (and officer) of the Coventry
Men’s Softball League since 1983. He is also an active member of the Class
of 1980 Reunion Committee. As a professional photographer, Kevin has
photographed thousands of school portraits, many weddings and a host of
family photos. Capturing memories for others is one of his most treasured
accomplishments. Kevin has also generously donated his service to the CHS
Alumni Association, acting as its official photographer at many of its events.
Kevin attributes much of his personal growth and his ability to overcome an
addiction to drugs to his faith and the unconditional support of his parents,
siblings, wife, daughter and many friends. Without them, he says he would
never be able to accept this award. If you were to ask him what his greatest
accomplishment is, he would proudly answer, “Becoming a Dad.”
