A proud graduate of Coventry High School, Brooke Tobin Macomber has dedicated her career to serving the community and school that helped shape her. As a student, Brooke was deeply involved in all aspects of school life, serving as Class Vice President, Social Committee member, and Student Council member, and accompanying the CHS Chorus on piano. Athletically, she played four years of varsity softball and soccer, serving as captain of the softball team and playing on Coventry High School’s first girls soccer team. Beyond school, she competed in town softball, helping capture two state and regional championships and advancing to national tournaments. It was at CHS that Brooke discovered her love for the Spanish language, spending the summer of 1989 living with a host family in Madrid, Spain—an experience that sparked her lifelong passion for language and culture.
Brooke went on to earn degrees in International Relations and Spanish from Syracuse University, studying abroad again in Madrid during her junior year, and later received her teaching certification and master’s degree in Secondary School Administration from Providence College. Her teaching career began at Bishop Hendricken and North Smithfield High Schools before she returned home to Coventry in 1998. Since then, she has served as a Spanish teacher, coach, class advisor, assistant principal, and, since 2018, principal of Coventry High School. She has coached softball, soccer, and cheerleading at both the middle and high school levels and has organized numerous student trips to Spain, giving hundreds of Oakers the opportunity to experience language and culture firsthand.
Named Rhode Island Assistant Principal of the Year in 2014, Brooke has led CHS to become a two-time National Unified Champion School for its commitment to inclusion and unity. She also strengthened the school’s Advanced Placement program, now recognized as one of the best in the state, serves on the RIIL Principals Committee on Athletics, and mentors new administrators through the Rhode Island Principals Association.
Coventry High School has been a defining part of Brooke’s life since she was young. She is the proud mother of Cameron and Connor, a CHS graduate, and the daughter of Donna Tobin, a fellow Hall of Fame inductee and former CHS teacher—whom Brooke later had the honor of supervising as principal. Having served the district as a student, teacher, coach, parent, and principal, her career reflects her deep love for the Coventry community and her belief that every student should leave CHS with the same pride, connection, and opportunity that she experienced herself.
